Overview

Daily Hoots is a news and reading app for families. The app helps a parent or guardian create child reading profiles, called Hootlings, so children can read age-aware news stories and answer short quizzes.

Information We Collect

We may collect the following information when you use the app:

• Parent account information, such as name and email address.
• Hootling profile information, such as first name, last name, nickname, age, selected avatar, PIN, and countries of interest.
• Reading and quiz activity, such as completed stories, quiz attempts, scores, badge progress, and app notices.
• Technical information needed to run the app, such as app version, API requests, and server logs.

Advertising and Analytics

Daily Hoots does not currently include third-party advertising. Daily Hoots does not currently include third-party analytics SDKs, ad attribution SDKs, or tracking tools. We do not use parent or Hootling information for third-party advertising or tracking.

The Daily Hoots website records anonymous totals when someone selects the App Store or Google Play download button. These records may include the selected store, general device type, date, and campaign labels. We do not store IP addresses, account information, or child profile data with these download-button events.

On the download page, Google Ads measurement is used to understand whether an advertisement led someone to the page. Advertising storage and advertising data use are disabled by default. If a visitor allows measurement, Google may use cookies or similar identifiers to attribute the visit to an advertisement. Daily Hoots disables ad personalization for this use and does not send parent account or Hootling profile data to Google. Visitors may decline measurement without affecting access to the website or store download links.

How We Use Information

We use information to:

• Create and manage parent accounts and Hootling profiles.
• Show age-aware news stories and quiz content.
• Track reading progress, quiz results, and badges.
• Improve reliability, safety, and app performance.
• Respond to support requests.

Children's Privacy

Daily Hoots is designed to be parent-managed. Parents or guardians create and manage Hootling profiles. We do not knowingly ask children to create independent accounts. Parents can contact us to request changes or deletion of profile data.

News and AI-Assisted Content

Daily Hoots may use automated tools to help rewrite selected news stories into child-friendly versions and generate quiz material. We use this content to provide the app experience and improve readability. We do not use parent account data or Hootling profile data for third-party advertising or tracking.

Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information with third parties for advertising or tracking. We may use trusted service providers for hosting, authentication, email delivery, support, and content generation. These providers process information only as needed to operate Daily Hoots.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect app data. No online service can guarantee perfect security, but we work to keep account and profile data protected.

Your Choices

Website visitors can allow or decline Google Ads measurement on the download page. The choice is stored in the visitor's browser and can be changed at any time using the Measurement choices control on that page.

Parents can update Hootling profiles in the app. Parents can also delete their parent account from inside the app. Account deletion permanently deletes the parent account, linked Hootling profiles, Hootling reading activity, quiz attempts, badge awards, and active login tokens from Daily Hoots, then signs the device out.
